For GREEN Real Estate we provided insight into the company's core values, mission and vision. The entire company contributed and together we designed a shared story.
Green Real Estate is a real estate investor in urban development projects. The company wants to improve living, working, mobility and shopping in and around the city. It is also a true family business. A company that attaches great importance to continuity with all relations. And doesn’t want to make a quick profit at the expense of others.
Nice words, but how do you see that reflected in choices for the future? Green Real Estate wanted to take time to think about their mission, vision and strategy. What are our core values, where do we want to go and what does that mean for all employees? To clarify this, we helped formulate a shared story.
Designing a story in two days
Together we organized a two-day event in which all employees were involved and everyone was allowed to contribute ideas. We firmly believe that by getting people to think critically about the story, involvement and success are enormously increased.
After all, you make the right strategic choices together, based on a shared image. And with the power of visual thinking, we ensure that we make a vision tangible and clear. Visual storytelling contributes to success stories!
Shared values better imaginable through visualizations
We organized and facilitated several rounds to map the environment and define building blocks. While drawing, we started talking with all employees. Drawings help clarify abstract concepts and make clear whether people are talking about the same thing. Because does everyone mean the same when they talk about ‘social return’ or ‘development’? And what do we mean exactly by ‘our family values’?
Drawings provide insight and support
With scenarios and storytelling, we made clear in two days what the really important questions are in the company. Drawings and other visual working methods ensured that abstract and complex processes become clear, but also that all different perspectives are heard. A visual metaphor ensures a lively conversation, the discussions become sharper. This is how we build real collaboration and support within the organization.
Result: beautiful enough to frame
We often say: “A strategy should be easy enough to remember and beautiful enough to want to frame.” And we are proud that we succeeded here. Green’s strategy plan now hangs prominently in their office. In this way, a company’s strategy is not a dusty report that ends up in a drawer, but a visible, striking and daily reminder of the shared story.
