Many companies often underestimate the value of making their strategies come to life. The broader organisation is rarely activated and engaged, but yet expected to execute on it. So how do you activate your company strategy? So that all your employees understand and are engaged? And how to do that in the midst of a pandemic, when most of your employees work from home?
Health insurance company Eno was developing a new company strategy and asked Flatland to visualise it. It was a perfect match! “Beforehand we didn’t expect what effect visualising with Flatland would have!“, says Petra Teunis – chairman of the board.
Covid-crisis changed outcome project
A visual would have been used to explain the strategy story to the broader organisation. But Covid19 changed that plan; since a gathering of all employees wasn’t possible anymore. So we transformed the visual into an animated video. Because animation is a powerful tool to convey a story from a distance.
Even though sessions in earlier stages had to be hosted online; to visualise and draw during an online meeting proved to work perfectly! And because Flatland’s visual consultants understood the essence the animation was executed very smoothly.
“This proves that we don’t need to be in the same room”, tells Simone Heemskerk, visual strategist. “Even better, because we were drawing online, the boardmembers sat closer by the visualisation. They could see and respond more directly!”
The visual was the basis of the animation, and also of a booklet. Together with the link to the animation, this booklet was sent to all employees at home. Both tell the strategy story, and challenge every individual employee with questions that he or she can discuss with their supervisor. To really activate the strategy and make it part of everyone’s daily work.
